Welcome back one and all for the 2000 edition of the Bushwood Social Aid and Pleasure Club's Game Notes and Pictures.  Last weeks "game" against Western Carolina was viewed more as a scrimmage and, therefore, we didn't bother to do a Game Notes and Pictures feature.  However, we did manage to take a few BOG pictures at the Western Carolina game and have included some of those pictures in this weeks BOG feature.

We had planned to have a bigger tailgate this weekend.  Unfortunately, rain put a damper on those plans.  Some of us did manage to get out there and tailgate for a little while.  However, it rained from the early morning to right about 6:00 p.m., at which time we had already picked up.  Therefore, we didn't get too many pictures of the tailgating activities.  Most of the pictures were game pictures.

While most of us took cover under the canopy, Uncle Gus bravely manned the Grill in the rain.

Bushwood's Dr. Evil (aka Uncle Gus).

Thanks to Uncle Wayne and his van, we even managed to watch some of the other games, despite all of the rain.

The Grill.  We had some pork, sausage, boudin, steak, dirty rice, and other various goodies to pass the time.

Dahhh -- Dat - Dahhh- Dat.  There's nothing like Pre Game.

Pre Game 2.

Houston2000Here_Come_the_Tigers.jpg (105397 bytes)

Here come the Tigers.  I believe this was the first time we wore purple jerseys since before Dinardo.  Personally, I like them.  They remind me of my time at LSU when we wore purple for all home games.

Despite the continuous rain all day, by game time the skies had cleared and this turned out to be one of the most pleasant games (temperature wise) we've had in quite some time.

Houston2000Booty_Under_Center.jpg (66359 bytes)

Booty under center.  When Booty couldn't do anything in the first quarter, many of us assumed that Rohan would come in the second quarter.  However, Saban stuck with Booty.  While I would have preferred to have Rohan come in the game, ESPECIALLY AT THE END OF THE GAME WHEN BOOTY JUST PLAIN SUCKED, I'll defer to Saban's knowledge and experience.

Houston2000Donnie_Jones.jpg (51996 bytes)

Perhaps the Most Valuable Player award should have gone to Donnie Jones, the punter.  He continuously backed Houston up near its goal line.  Bad field position kept Houston out of the game until the fourth quarter.

"Suite" Living.  A view of one of the suits.

Does someone have a pellet gun???  This is that retarded looking new mascot, Ellis Hugh. Someone should really put him out of his misery.

Houston2000superfan2.jpg (19762 bytes)

The SuperFans, hardhat and all, were back.

Houston2000JBooty_Interception.jpg (14623 bytes)

Booty throwing off his back foot.  This picture was taking immediately after he threw the ball for his second interception in the third quarter.  He was falling back, throwing off his back foot, despite the fact that the rushers seemed to be well blocked in front of him.

Houston2000That_Close.jpg (63339 bytes)

Here is a picture of the play in the fourth quarter that would have put Houston within a two point conversion of tying up the game.  As the picture shows (see the football in mid flight(, the receiver was wide open.  No one was within five yards of him.  The ball was perfectly thrown but bounced right out of the receivers hands, up in the air, and in the hands of Damien James.  The fourth quarter shows that this team still has a lot to work on.  Had we blown Houston out 42-0, I think we would have had a huge case of overconfidence.  Houston obviously saw something at half time and exploited it.  At least Saban and Co. can go back and address it before we get to SEC play.  Watch for Leard to take a lot of 3 step drop backs, and put the ball up in the air to the wideouts, just letting them run under the ball.
